About Kim Scott

Kim Scott has recently launched her own business, KS Consulting. With over 25 years in the entertainment industry, whether on the stage, a professor or the manager of large scale productions, she has experience in all aspects of live entertainment and production. She is leveraging her skills in the development and implementation of strategies to enhance performance, operational readiness, and efficiencies for theatre companies and universities world-wide. She is committed to being a steward to early career professionals and is a dedicated mentor to young women in the entertainment field. 

Kim serves as the Treasurer for United States Institute of Theatre Technology and is also the Director at Large for the Intermountain Desert Section of USITT. She is a founder of the USITT Elite Training Program, providing students and faculty the opportunity for hands on training with the entertainment industry’s top professionals. Kim served as chair for the eSET Council; the Essential Skills for Entertainment Technicians. This council is defining the technical standards for entry level technicians working in live entertainment.

Kim had a rewarding career with Cirque du Soleil, most recently as the Sr. Manager of Sourcing and Partnerships. She created and identified programs to support the technical sourcing needs and collaborated with key organizations to provide insight and growth in the live entertainment industry.

Kim also company managed the Cirque du Soleil productions KÀ, The Beatles LOVE and CRISS ANGEL BeLIEve. She was directly responsible for all aspects of the shows and oversaw more than 300 cast, crew and staff members who operated the productions daily.  During her tenure with Cirque du Soleil, she served as Director of Show Support for the Resident Shows Division and was responsible for the conception and execution of the Educational Cooperative Program.  This program connected live entertainment companies and key universities around the world. It provided faculty and students hands on training and custom curriculum development for technical training programs. She also created the Ascension Program, which was a three tier internal management development program that identified and coached internal talent to all levels of leadership within the company.

Kim received her BFA from the University of Nebraska Lincoln and went on to achieve her MFA from the University of California Irvine. Upon graduation, Kim moved to Las Vegas, Nevada and was an adjunct professor of dance at the University of Nevada Las Vegas and was an instructor at the Nevada Ballet Theatre. She continued to teach master classes in dance science and was selected as a presenter at the International Dance and Technology Conference in Phoenix, Arizonia. Kim serves on several academic advisory boards including the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, Chapman University, University of Nevada Las Vegas, St. Clair College and the Academy of Art University. She is also proud to serve on the advisory board for Nevada High School Theatre Technical Standards.

Intrigued by the corporate industry of Las Vegas, Kim accepted a position at NYNY Hotel and Casino and was quickly promoted to the Human Resources Training Manager. Kim oversaw the customer service training for the property as well as conducted new hire orientation and provided oversight and support for new initiatives. She was also selected to become a Diversity Trainer for MGM Resorts International. During the install of the new production of Zumanity by Cirque du Soleil, Kim was introduced to the Montreal based entertainment company and accepted a position as Training Manager responsible to create and implement their centralized training and development programs. 

Kim had a vibrant professional career performing in concert dance and musical theatre before moving into entertainment/theatre management.
